I think it’s not the actual app, but the way that parents use it that’s the issue. I hate that some peoples parents use this app in bad ways. It has improved my relationship with her and I feel grateful. She uses it to monitor my screen time, my location, and what websites I go on. Me and my mom decided together to get a parental app and she chose this one. My mom had no idea what was going on, and I ended up digging myself into a really deep hole for over six months. I got into a really bad relationship last year and ended up getting peer pressured and bullied into really bad stuff. I was a little worried about being outed, but I came out to my mom and she was ok with it. I’m lucky enough that my mom really listens to me and we came up with a good compromise. I know some kids parents do use it to invade privacy and I’m really sorry if that’s happening to you. Or at least I enjoy the way my mom uses it. I know a lot of kids and teens don’t like this app because it invades privacy, but I actually enjoy it. Continued use of GPS running in the background for the Family Locator feature can dramatically decrease battery life. The VPN connection can be disabled temporarily when needed in the Family Portal or by logging into the Kids App Qustodio on your kids' device. When connecting to the internet a VPN symbol will appear on the top of the screen. Instructions for installing, uninstalling, and configuring are on our help page. This profile can be removed or disabled by you whenever you want. The Kids App Qustodio for iOS install process will ask you to install a special MDM profile and accept special permissions in order to control the internet traffic on the device. Your child’s screen time activity is for your eyes only.
